Accountability is putting a steak in the ground. Commit to something and make yourself accountable for its success or failure. Put yourself on the line. Let's examine this last statement, what are you "putting on the line." What is it about accountability that sends some people running for the hills? What is rolled up in the perception of failure that scares the daylights out of some certain people. It's really about a sense of pride, reputation and self-esteem. When we boil it down to what's on the line, we can better understand why some people are willing to take certain risks that others aren't.
