English:
Let me behold thine inmost life, o world …
Let me pierce slowly through the senses seeming…
as, in a house, brightness is slow unfurled Until the rays of day wing through it streaming And then, as if this house could sacrifice Even its roof and walls to heaven's gleaming So that at last, gold-brimming, it might rise Wholly transfused, a spirit-building, standing Like to a monstrance, radiant spirit-wise. So also might my rigid walls expanding, Let thy full life find entry into mine And, unto thy life my full life remanding, Let life in life twine purely, mine and thine. |
